The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office established a “Shop with a Cop” program in 2009. Each year the participation for the program has increased, from 12 children to 28 in 2012. The participation for 2013 was raised to 37 children. This program is a very positive experience for the deputies and most of all, for the kids.

This program is funded through a grant from Wal-Mart, donations, and the Sheriff’s Office calendar. We would like to encourage you to thank the businesses who purchased ads for the calendar; it has been a great way to raise funds. Sheriff Banks and staff would like to thank everyone for the generous donations we received this year.

An account had been set up at State Employees’ Credit Union in Burnsville to accept donations for the “Shop with a Cop” program. If you would like to be contacted for an ad next year please let us know.
